Past Contests

Unrated Summer Special (2023)

Remarks: The June contest (a.k.a. our first ever Summer contest!) is officially over Congratulations to all the teams that participated 🥳🥳🥳🥳

We had a total of 14 teams participate in this contest, which was a great turnout (especially since this contest happened during summer break).

Congratulations to Bald Feet Kitchens, Hunter Hololive Hobbyists, 晴れ 晴れ ay, ay, ay (hey) 晴れ 晴れ a...p Dancing through the night, and glassesnerdorz for solving 7 of the problems! No team solved the hardest problem 😱

Thanks everyone for joining and we look forward to a hopefully successful school year ahead (with many more monthly contests)! :blobcosyandcomfy:

May Monthly Contest #4 (2023)

Remarks: Another SUCCESS! A testament to HSCSA's enduring strength and perseverance :D Despite AP testing and many clubs already on summer vacation, we managed to maintain the same level of participation as previous contests! Pretty impressive if you ask me ;) In addition, we'd also like to welcome Los Altos High School as a new addition to the community 🥳

With that, congratulations to teams three sussy bakas (Lynbrook), rn (ABHS), Bald Feet Kitchens (Gunn), and CSC Hololive fans for solving an amazing 7 of the 8 problems of the contest! And a shoutout to (juliany) as an unofficial participant, solving all 8 of the problems solo in the mere 75 minutes 0_0

On that note, you may have noticed something different about the style, or flavortext of the problems, as this is the first HSCSA contest organized by me, Ethan Lee; I hope you enjoyed these 8 problems I contributed :D

However, we did have some hiccups along the way: we are aware that problem E's statement was somewhat ambiguous, and problem G had an incorrect checker which allowed some incorrect solutions to pass; my apologies for the error 😔 We noticed this after the first place team ended their participation, and their code should have received a WA verdict. Since it is a simple fix, we don't think it would have affected the standings, so we will keep their submission verdict as AC.

Thank you so much to all representatives and contestants for joining us for our contest :sylvhappy: We hope to see you again soon!

March Monthly Contest #3 (2023)

Remarks: ANOTHER HUGE SUCCESS IN THE BOOKS >:D! The March Monthly Contest #3 welcomed 5 new schools into the HSCSA family: Lynbrook High School, California Connections Academy, Silver Creek High School, Del Norte High School, and Winchester High School! All of our statistics (# of participants, teams, representatives, etc.) are UP.

Even the problems themselves are a milestone. Four problemwriters volunteered this month, doubling the previous record. A shoutout to lethan3 and ezraft for contributing their problems! And, of course, a round of applause for the most amazing person ever, BucketPotato, who prepared the majority of the problems and coordinated so tirelessly to yield such a high-quality problemset.

Finally, huge thanks to all representatives for supporting HSCSA and all participants for your outstanding performance :D Thanks to you, HSCSA is thriving more than ever before! See y'all at the next contest~ <3

January Monthly Contest #2 (2023)

Remarks: The January Monthly Contest #2 was an absolute blast! We had a more than 50% increase both in the number of teams and participants. We are also delighted to welcome a new high school, hunter college HS, into our mix <3 Thank you again to all the representatives, the participants for their excellent performances, and the best person in the world, BucketPotato, who practically wrote all the problems. We couldn't have hosted this competition without you! Can't wait to see everyone at the next monthly contest :D

November Monthly Contest #1 (2022)

Remarks: Thank you to all teams and representatives for your efforts in making this contest possible. We couldn't have had a smoother run! Hope to see everyone and more at the next December contest.
